History

As from the successful organisation of a National “Military” attended by more than 15.000 visitors and happy participants back in 1996, on the domain of the “Hemsrode” Mansion at Anzegem, “Military Waregem” keeps looking at the future with utmost confidence.

This West Flanders’ non-profit society is, with its international – one and two stars - competitions every year, undoubtedly known as “the” organizer of the Belgian Military horse sport of international leverage.

Between 1996 and 2003, this society has organized on its own, three European championships and in 2004 even a CIC *** World Cup round!!!

This year, we organise between 10 and 13 september 2010 a CCI **, CCI * , and a BENELUX Championship as well as a CNC Y Horses and L !

What’s an Eventing ?

Whatever the name:” “Military”, “Concours Complet”, “ Three Days Event” or simply “Eventing” as it must sound nowadays; it’s anyway the most diversified discipline among all Equestrian Sports.

“Eventing is – for sure! – a truly worthy Olympic sport”

Thee days filled with top sport: “dressage”, “cross country” and “jumping” disciplines will be combined in a “Three Days Event”, to follow the English tradition.

The three elements of this competition: dressage, cross-country and jumping have each their specific function: A “Dressage” test focuses on obedience and flexibility.

At international competitions, “cross country” is being used for the “endurance test”. Perseverance is here particularly required from horse and rider, as well as strength exerted for passing sometimes very technical obstacles.

“Jumping” is left for the very last day, as an ultimate test for measuring both the horse and its rider’s recuperation ability. This year’s “jumping” shall be performed after the “Cross Country», as required for an EC, on Monday, at the racecourses of Waregem.

Eventing at Waregem & Anzegem

The Waregem racecourses as well as the BLOSO sport centre “De Gaverbeek” have ideal facilities available, such as training grounds, steeple courses, jumping alleys and horse stables.

Hemsrode Domain’s magnificent natural park, opened every year to the public by the family “de Maere d’Aertrycke – de Limburg Stirum”, at the occasion of this spectacular “cross-country”, welcomes each time no less than 20.000 up to 25.000 onlookers and nature fans.

The dressage is to be ridden on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 september 2010, whereby athletic full-blooded horses turn their strength into self-possession and obedience.

The jumping for CCN Z is also to be ridden on Saturday 11 september 2010. This takes place on the perfectly maintained grass lanes of the Waregem racecourses or at the BLOSO sport centre.

Sunday 12th September 2010: cross-country at “Hemsrode” mansion’s domain in Anzegem, a highlight day not only for the participants but also for the many onlookers. The course has been thoroughly revamped for both EC’s and its length adapted to European championship leverage. Suspense is kept maintained throughout, even with non-specialists, thanks to the professional speakers’ comments, voiced by public address. The journey leads you alongside oxers, trakheners, benches and spectacular water-obstacles, each of them with a specific difficulty for both horse and rider, which … also favourites may miss.

The whole scene is furthermore enhanced by a choice of trade stands packed with hunting, park, garden and horse sport articles for sale.
The prize-awards for the national series and the Belgian Championship will be allocated on Sunday, in front of the mansion. Welcome to everybody, ambiance and style are guaranteed!

Monday 13th September 2010 is “the” day for the jumping competition of the CCI **, CCI * en BENELUX Championship.

This discipline is also to be admired in Waregem, on the racecourses.
